Principles
As you might expect from a company that makes software for space situational awareness, at COMSPOC we strive to have a clear sense of our place in the universe. Our purpose, vision, mission, and values express the future we believe in, how we contribute to that future, and the code by which we do so.
Purpose
Peace on Earth, progress through space
Vision
A space domain where everything is detected, tracked, characterized, and protected
Mission
Deliver systems that advance space domain knowledge
Values
Passion
Tenacity
Family
Our Culture
Look, we agree. A corporation hyping their “challenging and fun” work environment is horribly cringe.
When you think about a corporate office, most normal humans imagine “challenging” as unending virtual meetings with people stammering over each other while the actual presenter forgets they're on mute.
And then there’s that curious corporate version of “fun,” which tends to resemble something that might be fun if it wasn’t your company making you all do it awkwardly together.
You want challenging and fun? Try mini golf.
And yet... at COMSPOC we do think we’re kind of special.
After all, we’re creating extraordinary technology that’s designed to safeguard the use of space for all humankind.
That’s pretty cool. And we’re a small, private company, so we roll loose and we think farther ahead than the next earnings call.
Yeah, there’s something different here alright, and dare we say it’s a vibe?
As we mentioned above, at COMSPOC we go by three values that define how we pursue our purpose, vision, and mission.
But what do we mean by these words?
Passion
We say that we’re passionate because every one of us cares about the future of human endeavor in space. But we also define passion as the commitment to giving our best. They say the best way to learn is to fail, but to fail you must try. So, we pour ourselves into whatever we’re doing and then we celebrate the eventual success, or we learn and move on.

Tenacity
You could argue that in a Venn diagram, there’s a decent amount of overlap between passion and tenacity. But at COMSPOC we say that we’re tenacious because we refuse to give up on the dream. Great change requires great effort, it’s true, but in the fine print it also says that it requires patience and persistence. We’ve learned to stick to our guns. The feeling is less Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber — “So you’re saying there’s a chance!” — and more Han Solo from Star Wars — “Never tell me the odds!”

Family
You caught us. You hear corporations talk about family about as much as they talk about being “fun and challenging.” But at COMSPOC, it really is different. For one thing, other than right here, on this page, we don’t waste time verbalizing it. We just do it. We see family as a community that respects and celebrates the lives that we’re each striving to live, in and out of work. We think that’s an important distinction, and it’s why we boldly claim to have a truly family culture. Because at COMSPOC, you’re going to be you, and we are so here for that.

Our History
COMSPOC is a 21st century company with deep roots. Our technology is the legacy of 50 years and eight generations of commercial innovation.
The timeline below highlights eight inflection points along the way from our technology’s first steps to the SSA powerhouse it has become.
First generation: the 1970s
Extended Kalman Filter + Smoother Orbit Determination (EKFSOD)
Details
- Created for the NRO
- A breakthrough in OD technology — very high accuracy, very low latency
Second generation: the 1980s
EKFSOD (2)
Details
- The same team that developed the first EKFSOD executes a clean-sheet rebuild of it.
Third generation: the early 1990s
EKFSOD (3)
Details
- The same team that developed the first EKFSOD executes another clean-sheet rebuild of it.
Fourth generation: the late 1990s
AGI and ODTK
Details
- The original EKFSOD team moves to Analytical Graphics, Inc. — AGI.
- AGI represents a revolution in:
- Team composition
- Corporate structure
- Software architecture
- Software capabilities
- A clean-sheet rebuild of EKFSOD results in a commercial product:
- Orbit Determination Tool Kit (ODTK)
- All orbit regimes, all sensor types
- Now Ansys ODTK
Fifth generation: the early 2000s
Catalog processing
Details
- Developed advanced catalog processing techniques.
- Improved data accuracy and reliability.
- Cross-validation with multiple sources
- Real-time updates
- Expanded global reach.
Sixth generation: the late 2000s
“SpOC in a Box”
Details
- AGI creates the first commercial, full catalog processing system — “SpOC in a Box”
- OSD AT&L validated for 100% of JMS requirements
Seventh generation: 2014
ComSpOC and SSASuite
Details
- The Commercial Space Operations Center (ComSpOC) is created at AGI
- Formed to address an OSD Space Policy request
- The ComSpOC helps foster the growth of the commercial SSA ecosystem with AGI capital
- The ComSpOC’s flagship software product is officially named “SSA Software Suite” (SSASuite)
- JMS numerically validates SSASuite
- JICSpOC and NROC take SSASuite to TRL 9
Eighth generation: 2020
COMSPOC Corporation
Details
- COMSPOC Corporation spins out of AGI
- $500M of intellectual property
- $90M of early-stage investment
- 34+ years of SSA experience across a world-renowned team
