Pakistan’s PRSC Satellites Suggest Multi-Modal ISR Coverage Focused on South Asia

Pakistan’s PRSC-EO3, an optical imaging satellite launched on April 25, 2026 aboard a Long March 6, is operating in an unusual 38° inclined orbit rather than the sun-synchronous geometry commonly used by optical LEO satellites for consistent lighting. While this orbit sacrifices global coverage, it increases revisit opportunities across the 20-40°N latitude band covering India, Kashmir, and Pakistan, and it pairs with PRSC-S1, a SAR satellite in a similar 41° orbit with a RAAN nearly 175° out of phase to provide complementary day-night access. Together with PRSC-HS1, a hyperspectral satellite in sun-synchronous orbit, Pakistan’s recent China-launched remote sensing assets appear consistent with a multi-modal ISR architecture combining optical imagery, radar collection, and material-identification capabilities over South Asia.
